Environmental Policy

Protecting the environment is an important factor in the way we do business. We promote our range of energy efficient and environmentally friendly products, and pay special attention to heat load/loss calculations and system design to ensure that these products are used in the most energy efficient way possible.

The Hi Velocity mini duct system is extremely environmentally friendly:

It can be used with a heat recovery unit to keep energy costs down where fresh air is to be introduced
The system can have up to eight time and temperature control zones per air handler instead of using up to eight chilled water or DX fan coils. This can reduce carbon footprint, energy consumption, installation costs, and service and maintenance costs
It also uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R410A

Our heat pumps (Hi-Velocity, Hitachi, Acson, and Merlin) are an energy efficient form of heating and cooling. The Government has reduced the VAT on heat pumps for the residential end user to 5% to promote this form of heating. The Merlin has no interconnecting refrigerant copper piping, meaning less installation material is required.

The Airius Thermal de-stratification fan is specifically designed as an energy saving product to reduce heating bills. It allows a simpler initial heating or cooling installation for areas with high ceilings. The fans are inexpensive to buy and to operate, and are easy to install and maintain. Environmental Policy Statement
Cooling & Heating Sales Ltd designs, supplies, installs and maintains an extensive range of equipment for projects requiring air conditioning, heating, ventilation and air purification. We have a fully equipped office (converted stables) and a warehouse, in the Essex countryside. Equipment is delivered direct to site from our suppliers, or direct from our warehouse in the company van. We do not supply our own packaging.

We actively promote environmental awareness throughout the company and encourage employees to discuss ideas or concerns informally. Environmental issues are on the agenda at every team meeting to monitor our progress. We have full management commitment to our environmental policy and the funds necessary to implement this are allocated as possible.

We are a mobile producer of hazardous waste as we safely recover and dispose of refrigerant recovered during installation work. We transport recovered refrigerant by road to an authorised waste broker. We are exempt from registration as we produce less than 500kg per annum.We will comply with all relevant environmental legislation.

The Policy
We recognise that our operations inevitably have an effect on the environment, and wish to minimise the potentially harmful effects of our activities as much as reasonably possible. We also have a duty of care to ensure that any waste we produce is handled safely and within the law. Our policy aims are:

To comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice
To protect the environment by preventing and minimising our contribution to pollution of land, air, and water
To keep wastage to a minimum and use our materials and resources wisely and efficiently
To reduce, re-use or recycle our waste as much as possible
To manage and dispose of all waste that we cannot reduce, re-use or recycle in a safe and responsible manner
To provide training for our staff so that we all work in accordance with this policy and within an environmentally aware culture
To regularly communicate our environmental performance to our employees and other significant parties
To develop our management processes to ensure that environmental factors are considered during planning and implementation
To source and promote environmentally-friendly and energy saving products
To ensure the energy efficiency rating of all our products is easily available
To monitor and continuously improve our environmental performance
