The Hi-Velocity mini duct system
Manufactured in Canada since 1983, the Hi-Velocity mini duct system is an unobtrusive, energy efficient, cost effective and compact, heating and cooling system.

It creates even temperatures with no draughts or hot or cold spots. Tens of thousands have been installed worldwide.

Mini duct systems are well suited for industrial, commercial, retail and residential markets. The huge range of applications includes houses, offices, factories, hotels, restaurants, server rooms, care homes, schools, pubs and clubs, laboratories, leisure centres, hospitals and art studios.

The Hi-Velocity system uses a modular air handler connected to 200mm or 250mm diameter ductwork plenum, plus insulation. A number of patented flexible mini ducts, which terminate in vent outlets, are connected to this plenum. The plenum is available in standard spiral, rectangular metal duct or lightweight phenolic foam duct. The phenolic foam duct has excellent thermal properties and external and internal foil lining.

The vents are discrete and can be mounted in the ceiling, floor or walls. Ductwork design and air handler positioning are made easier by the particular way the system operates. Cooling & Heating Sales Ltd are happy to assist with design and plotting duct rows.

A high efficiency inverter fan motor creates a static pressure in the plenum ducts (approx. 325 pa). This static pressure (potential energy) is converted to velocity pressure (kinetic energy) at the vent outlet. Here, Bernouli’s Theorem and the Venturi effect distribute the heating and cooling throughout the conditioned space without further taxing the fan motor. This adds to the efficiency of the system.

The Hi Velocity system can be paired with inverter heat pump condensing units, chilled water systems and hot water sources including boilers, ground source heat pumps and solar panels.

Each air handler can have a maximum of eight control zones, with individual time and temperature settings in each area. In this way the quantity of indoor units required on large projects is reduced, thus further increasing the environmental benefits of the system.

The Hi-Velocity mini duct system provides full climate and humidity control by integrating fresh air and a cooling circuit. Cooling can be fitted at the time of initial installation or as a retrofit at a later date.

The system has options for heating, cooling, fresh air ventilation (up to 100%), air filtration, connection to a heat recovery unit, dehumidification and ultraviolet air cleaning. It provides one of the most comfortable environments possible - even temperatures, without draughts or breezes. It eliminates the need for traditional radiators or under floor heating systems.
